Advent 2009:: The Coming HOPE Wednesday

Wednesday Hope::

Read Romans 4:13-21 and connect with the hope that was in the heart of Abraham (God made a promise to Abraham that he would have many children and that they would be the foundation of God’s people). Pray that God would allow you to push this hope to the front of your brain this week.

Pay special attention to the last verse in this reading. Abraham was fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised. Let those words ring in your head today and this week. God is able to do what He has promised.

I'm overwhelmed with that last thought..."God is able to do what he has promised." It's almost as if we think God will do us wrong, like the circumstances for our life won't play out like Romans 8:28 says. We need to claim the promise of who He is in every situation in our lives. The Israelites sure didn't believe that God was able to do what he has promises - they wouldn't even enter the "Promise" land (Numbers 13-14), which is ironic in and of itself. Lord help me to trust you and find my hope in the truth of who you are.
